VIDEO REVIEW

Given the awesomeness of the first Sisu, I had to review this one here once I saw they actually made another one! The first one is so over the top, how can they continue that? Oh, they do. In the same gloriously ridiculously crazy fashion. But never parody, it’s too classy for that. Just some more downright insane action sequences that rival its predecessor. Fuck yeah.

1946, the war is over. Unfortunately for Sisu, the Finnish border lines got redrawn, and his old homestead is now in “Soviet Union” territory. He goes back to get it, with a big-ass truck and his dog. And while technically his name is not Sisu, that’s what he is. It’s Finnish for “One bad-ass mofo don’t care ‘bout nuthin’ fuck you I’m doin’ it anyways,” roughly translated. So he may be a Heinrich or a Loki or someshits, but no. He is Sisu.

Yeah, there’s a shitload of CGI. But there’s some good practical blood and guts done here too. And it all looks pretty damn good. Is it completely ludicrous? Yes, but in a very measured kind of way, in that it technically maybe could potentially be pulled off in reality? AND, they work in some rare bits of dark comedy in order to not go full retard. Not much for laughs, but when they do, it’s a nice touch. Main actor Jorma Tommila is great once again in the role, selling some pretty hardcore scenarios with panache, and Stephen Lang does a good job too as his emissary. Wtf, that aint the right word. Nemesis at least, but that’s not quite right either. Creator? That’s what the movie says, so I’ll stick with that. The Story between the actiony bits is enough to keep you invested, gives you a bit of a backstory as to why Sisu is the driven man he is. The dog helps too, keeps it real. In fact, this could be a documentary on PBS, it is that real.

The Most Ludicrous Scene: I busted out laughing after it got pulled off, and I don’t do that often. I won’t say what it is. But it is even more Over the Top than Sylvester Stallone, and that bastard even made a movie titled that!

Hidden Knife notes: Not a recommended method here. Seriously, do not try anything that Sisu does at home. You will snuff it.
